| | The American Guild of Organists orchestrated a one-day event featuring organ concerts and recitals in 298 cities and nearly 400 venues around the world. This global celebration, called Organ Spectacular, was part of a year-long music festival of activities highlighting the International Year of the Organ, which continues through June 2009.

| | Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital recently celebrated the 100th clubfoot successfully treated using the minimally invasive Ponseti technique. This has been the hospital's preferred method for infant clubfoot patients since the start of the specialty clinic two years ago, which was established to treat this correctable, but potentially debilitating, deformity.

| | The island of Bora Bora and the St Regis Resort Bora Bora have been chosen as the backdrop for a Universal Studios' film titled "Couples Retreat" that will be shot in the islands of Tahiti. Starring several well-known actors, including Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love, the story follows four couples who travel to a tropical island resort. Tahiti Tourisme's Los Angeles office has been working closely with the producers over the past few months — from initial scouting through the current pre-production phase — and will continue to assist Universal Studios throughout the filming process in the islands.
