LAAAA NAMES NEW PRESIDENT
Board Member Joe Hartnett Honored with Appointment

LOS ANGELES, July 11, 2002 – The Los Angeles Advertising Agencies Association (LAAAA) announced today that board member Joe Hartnett has been unanimously voted to the post of President.

An active member of LAAAA since 1988 and current chief integrated marketing officer of The Phelps Group, Hartnett joined the LAAAA board in 1998. He succeeds Rick Carpenter, who served as LAAAA president since 2000.

“I’m pleased to be passing the presidential reigns to Joe Hartnett,” said Carpenter. “As a devoted board member, he was directly responsible for Career Day and the 2002 Spring Conference. His 20 years of advertising leadership skills and expertise will help further LAAAA’s objectives and goals.”

In addition to his dedication to LAAAA, Hartnett is recognized worldwide for his dynamic teachings on Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). Hartnett is hailed for his ability to instruct colleagues and clients on how to put this methodology into practice to successfully deliver a consistent brand message at all points of customer contact.

Hartnett is also a frequent speaker at conferences and campuses around the world, and has organized and led IMC seminars for current clients, including the City of Hope, Pepperdine University and Dunn-Edwards.
