Phelps Named Finalist For Entrepreneur of the Year
Joe Phelps, CEO of The Phelps Group, was recently selected as a finalist in the prestigious “Greater Los Angeles Entrepreneur of the Year” awards program.
Sponsored by Ernst & Young, a global leader in professional services, the awards honor entrepreneurs whose “ingenuity, hard work and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures.” Since the awards program originated in 1986, it has expanded to 36 regions throughout the United States and 50 countries worldwide, with the award becoming the mark of world-class individuals leading world-class companies.
Over the past 18 years, the Greater Los Angeles Entrepreneur of the Year Program has recognized nearly 400 companies as award finalists. Nominees must be owners/managers of a private or public company who are responsible for the recent performance of the company. Independent judging panels from each award area select seven to 10 Entrepreneur of the Year award recipients in several categories ranging from financial services, communications and technology to retail and consumer products.
Phelps was chosen as a finalist along with 19 other business leaders from a field that included hundreds of nominees from a wide range of business and industries. Top award winners, announced at a banquet held on June 29 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, included James David Power III, chairman of J. D. Power & Associates, Don Chang, president, Forever 21, Inc., and Scott Jarus, president, j2 Global Communications.
